What did the TSA find in Solange’s Fro? is an original comic drawing based on the scholarship of Simone Brown in Dark Matters: On the Surveillance of Blackness that explores Solange’s personal experiences with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Using elements of horror, humor, and surrealism., the characters within the comic are able to escape interrogations with the TSA as they combat larger tropes that become attached to black female bodies. The comic uses comedic dialogue to display how the racial and gender obsessions of TSA agents and the process of securitizing spaces further criminalize racialized bodies.
